- Concept challenge

Today i went for the third time to Marylebone high street and photographed. I had a plan. I had a list of things to photograph. It's a great experience, you feel really professional. It's time effective, and very productive. You understand what i mean...? Instead of just going and making some pics without knowing exactly what to shoot, you go with a plan. Give it a try.

- There

Found this while doing some pictures around temple. Around 5 o' clock. I agree, i am to close to the X, but i'll go back there.

- Design application test

In a moment of crazyness, at the last minute i though about changing the typeface that i had selected as part of the identity of Bankside & Borough. No, i'll stick to the first one, Museo. The other one, if you are interested is Admark. Copy and "subheading" are set in Frutiger Light in both cases. The logotype, by the way, if Frutiger Bold. This piece is supposed to work as a double page spread, as an advert for billboard, or any kind of landscape poster. I made a series of 4, will post them soon. Scary, Spicy, Catchy and Easy. They all finish with an "y" you noticed... The answer, "y"not? (who is also the studio with whom we worked on this project)

- No ball games

So, after spending hours and hours (and hours) breaking my head with the GDF project i arrived to what i believe to be a solution that truly fulfills the brief. In this case, my Global Corporation would be Nike, my target audience inner city teenagers who live in places where you always find the no ball games sign, and, become greener, because if you are not at home playing console games but instead you are in the streets, you are reducing your carbon footprint. The idea is to find an inner city scenario (dirty, urban, with graffiti...), and, instead of having a plate saying no ball games, you have a plate saying no console games... In the second scenario, you would have it like in the image here, where it reads ball games after "no" having been scrapped, and then it says, just do it..

- Just brilliant

Found this image on the book i was looking into: the art of looking sideways by Alan Fletcher. It's one in many great visual stuff you can find inside, but this one was in particularly strong enough to make me grab the iphone, photograph it and share it. Hope you like it.

- PPD mini-portfolio

So, today is the first of March, and also the day to deliver the mini-portfolio as part of the PPD assessment. I delivered mine. I wasn't able to finish it, as it really needs to be at the time of looking for a work placement. I know it. And i also know its a summative assessment and that from there, i won't get the greatest of the marks. But, i am happy having done it. I created my structure, my style and my ideal approach. What i need to do now is to reaaaally start polishing it.

- Interacting with the space

This a very interesting video that i came across during my research for the new project.
This is interesting. This is interactive. And it is a solution like this one that i would like to implement for the ICA (how to increase audience participation / interaction with the cultural space) instead of just a boring screen where people can touch to access information.
The idea here was to encourage people to take the staircase instead of the escalator. This scene happened at the Odenplan subway station in Stockholm. See more ideas like this here, rolighetsteorin.se

- Place identity

My new project is to rebrand a company. I must choose the brand. My chosen one is Southwark area. My idea is (somewhere) around creating a general brand - Southwark - that would nest, for example: Southwark council, Southwark turism, Soutwark arts... So i went on looking for place brand, country identities and stuff like that.

Found this and decided that i just love it.

- Concept concept concept

This project was running for the best advertising camapaign of 2010. It was done in central London, one could only see it from a certain angle as passing by.
Making the invisible visible, brilliant!

- Anti smoking concept

Brilliant. I am not sure if it is effective on its purpose to make people hate tobacco and i refuse to make such research on it, this work is conceptually/artistically beautiful.

- Pathetic

This was an idea that was in my head for a while. I dont consider it a finished product, it's just an idea, a concept, so far. Been thinking about running a sequence of those. About how are you supose to eat a kitkat, or something along that "frivolous" tone.. Don't forget kitkat is the number one chocolate bar in the UK.
Just an idea..

- "I'm here", Absolut vodka movie

Here, you can see the movie "I'm here". It's part of the Absolut vodka campaign. It's fantastic, it lasts 40 minutes, so, take your time, maybe leave it for tonight, after dinner..
I found it when i was exploring tbwa.com (the agency responsible for Apple's "Get a Mac" campaign). It was this agency that in seven years transformed Asolut, to become market leader in the United States. The film Director is Spike Jonze.
Enjoy.

- Environmental campaigns

Hello.
My variables for the GDF project are: Global corporation, Become greener and 15-20 year olds. If you don't understand what i mean, this is a course project, where we had to throw a dice in order to determine the nature of our client, the message to transmit and the target audience. There was 6 options (dice) per variable. With this variables we need to produce a piece of graphic design that transmits the message to the the target audience. That is the brief, very University of the arts, very vague. I am now at the stage of research. I don't really like to work this way, i find it very hard to do research with out knowing exactly what am i suppose to research. Well, i just continue anyway.

Bellow are a selection of environmental campaigns i found here on the internet. All are excellent pieces of artwork. These campaigns probably win awards and come from really top advertising agencies, however, i cannot not think that they carry very little call for action. It's almost as if the creative agencies were using the campaign to promote their own cleverness. The audience is not clearly told what must they do in order to become greener (reduce carbon footprint) nor are they told where to look for related information, nor nothing. Well, the audience is left to think, the ads are memorable, but how effective is that? Is the purpose of the message being achieved? Ill try to research that as well...

I realized that i can pick two types of client: One, like WWF, the other, like Diesel. In the first scenario the client, is, an environmental organization. Top creative agencies usually have a couple of accounts where the client is a either a charity or a environmental organization where they do the jobs for free. In the second scenario, the client is not an environmental organization but wants the public to be aware of their care for the environment. It can be part of a public relation's strategy or rebranding, a way of building an image and then use it with the appropriate marketing strategy.

This is actually the only really visually interesting bit of my research so far, and that is why i share it with you. Hope you can make use of it. Thanks for following.
