- Great story
"As an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival, Stella Artois wanted to mark the occasion in true style. So Mother created an event like no other, culminating in the premiere of the highly anticipated Jacques d’Azur biopic: ‘The Death and Life of Jacques d’Azur’."

- I'm lovin it
This is an ad i ended up at, and really enjoyed. Then i think, but, there are so many good adverts that never show on the TV. This must mean, that this great ads are being produced to be shown at other places than television, like the internet, planes, cinemas. There is something i'd like to investigate actually...
For reference and for your own pleasure, please check bunchdesign.com, they are the creative team responsible for this video, and the ones who have loads of other fantastic stuff on their portfolio.
- Singapore airlines ad
This, my friends, is what i consider to be great graphic design. Simple, clean, elegant. Simple animation techniques, beautiful effect.
By the way. It was done by the whynotassociates studio.
- Great concept made greater
Trust me, you haven't seen this one yet. It's not what you think it is.
Found this while researching some visuals for Lynx, who is a potential client (Global Corporation) on my never ending GDF project. I'm going mad, i cant make this project be over...
- Nostalgia
This was my favorite ad when i was a boy, about 6 or 7 years old.
I was so happy to find it again.
Hope you like it.
- Book making tutorial
Ok, so, for those of you you don't know, my next project is a book. The title is London through the eyes of a designer. We must design everything on it, the cover, the content, the captions, the grid. However we like, under the condition that it obeys to French folding technique and it's in A5 size. We must explore different things, different techniques, to try, to create, to document. We can do whatever we want with it. We must also produce a dust jacket that serves at the same time as a poster when unfolded.
So, this video is part of my research for the book project. There are some very nice tips inside.
- Tate interactive
Tate Trumps uses the Tate Modern’s Wi-Fi connection to activate the game. It will only work if for people that are actually at the gallery. Veiwers have 30 minutes to go trough the galleries and pick art on their smart phone using codes that are on every piece exposed.
Up to three players can play and the aim is to collect art that they think would win agianst their your opponents - family or friends - in one of three different game categories - battle, mood or collect.
The visitor must collect seven pieces of art and no two players can select the same piece and at the end of time, the different players start a “battle”.
This is very interactive and the visitor definitely is obliged to merge with the cultural space. Win or lose, there will be an explanation on why certain results are the way the are. This way the learning process is more fun and easy to remember.
- DDB ad agency
Oh my god!
I found this ad while researching on ways to increase audience participation. Its from the same agency responsible for piano stairs, some posts bellow bellow, which was really the case i was following. Both of the cases are genius, both responsability of DDB, with offices pretty much all around the world.
Enjoy.
- 3D induction workshop
So, today i went to an induction workshop on 3D. Basically its a carpentry workshop. I loved it. I love working wood, and, my first thought was, why the hell did i not know about this last year.
They have all sorts of machines to cut, straight, curved, to make holes, trenches, to make wood smoother... this things.
They also have a section for vacuum shaping things into plastic using heat. Great to create molds.
And then... the cherry on top of the cake, the biggest diamond on the crown, a laser cutting machine! The video shows how it works. You need to bring a vector based file and the machine reads exactly the lines. And so fast. It gives you this science fiction feel...
I would like, in fact, to use this for my recent project. It will probably not end up like this but i had thought of creating some huge ICA (lettering) structure that would sit in the space where people could, for example sit inside, leave messages, paint it.. lets see..
If you haven't done it yet, i highly recommend you do, well, this if you are studying in my college..
- Interacting with the space
This a very interesting video that i came across during my research for the new project.
This is interesting. This is interactive. And it is a solution like this one that i would like to implement for the ICA (how to increase audience participation / interaction with the cultural space) instead of just a boring screen where people can touch to access information.
The idea here was to encourage people to take the staircase instead of the escalator. This scene happened at the Odenplan subway station in Stockholm. See more ideas like this here, rolighetsteorin.se
- The power of feelings
This is a fabulous advert i found while doing my unfruitable research for my rebrand project. I think it works so well with the feelings of those who cannot finf love (or whatever people are looking for...). Like a very very short romantic comedy, where at the end you feel irritated because your eyes almost started to water. One minute and 2 seconds later, you realise you can have that at the distance of a couple of clicks. (and some few pounds, to pay the subscription) Match.com...
The agency responsible for this ad is Mother, from London, available on the side of this blog as a link.
"Unfruitable" means, that produced no fruits. I couldn't be more stuck in this project, really...
Tomorrow is another day... Got to be positive init? Uff!
- Concept concept concept
This project was running for the best advertising camapaign of 2010. It was done in central London, one could only see it from a certain angle as passing by.
Making the invisible visible, brilliant!
- Stunt advertising campaign
Playastation launched in November a campaign to promote the newest version of Grand Turismo 5.
Where? At the heart of paris.
Where? At the heart of paris.
GT5 is the latest big name in the industry of console entertainment and have been investing enormously in advertising. Rather then just occupy billboard space, the responsible creative agency decided to bring some action to the streets. Professional pilots were invited and asked to drive trough les champs elysees, and perform two hours of driving to the aficionados of the game. They even had pit-stop stations for the delights of those that love everything around cars and engines.
I dont particulary like video games, i cannot play them, they take to long to understand and months to complete. What I would like is to one day to be able to work for an agency where campaigns like this can be thought of. It’s so simple, and probably so much cheaper than the thousands of euros that advertising on the underground costs, and, so brilliantly effective. Yet in a little more than a month this page on youtube counts with more than 450.000 visits, not bad... On top of that they had, and are having, media coverage for free, present in all French newspapers and related magazines. It works.
- Sculpture
This is an interesting video about a guy who decided to do what he really felt like. An artist, he first set up a studio to make on scale woman sculptures, then came the rest.. I just told you the first 20 seconds of the video, chill out... it's interesting.
- Animation, Charles Bukowski
This animation was produced in 1999 by Jonathan Hodgson. I was fascinated by it, and only at the end i understood it is a refference to Charles Bukowskyi life, or life style, or way of thinking.. see it. It is probably better to read one of his books to understand his philosophy, i recommend, "factotum", from 1975.
"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us."
— Charles Bukowski
- "I'm here", Absolut vodka movie
Here, you can see the movie "I'm here". It's part of the Absolut vodka campaign. It's fantastic, it lasts 40 minutes, so, take your time, maybe leave it for tonight, after dinner..
I found it when i was exploring tbwa.com (the agency responsible for Apple's "Get a Mac" campaign). It was this agency that in seven years transformed Asolut, to become market leader in the United States. The film Director is Spike Jonze.
Enjoy.
- Apple research
Hi.
So, i've decided to do research on Apple. Apple is my client for the GDF project and it's from them that i took an advert to analyze on the VCT essay. I like Apple, i like it more after my research.
I just love this ads. Click here, so see all 66 of those that were shown in America. (30 seconds films). It's the American version. The campaign started in 2006 featuring movies both on the television and internet and the agency that developed the concept was (is) the agency TBWA/Media arts lab. since 2009 no more were produced Six different versions were made for the American, English, Japanese, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand markets althought they all follow the same simplicity and cleverness. Originally the conversations that the Mac guy and PC guy had the function to put in evidence the more general benefits of owning a mac instead of a PC in the day to day life out of the office. With Windows 7 coming Apple used the ads structure to make fun, for example, on the 8 or 9 different options of Operative system that come with windows 7, from home, to office, to professional, to educational.... Apple operative system is one only.
I've also read different articles in different websites and found out something interesting. Did you know, that the bite on the Apple's mark, was designed to accommodate the shape of the "a" on their original logotype? Nor did i. "According to the logo designer, Ryan Smith, the typeface was selected for its playful qualities and techno look, in line with Apple's mission statement of making high technology accessible to anyone. Janoff designed the logo in 1976 while working with Palo Alto marketer Regis McKenna."
I've also spent an hour and 35 minutes watching an interview with Steve Jobs at the D8 interview. The interview covers just about everything Apple is on at the moment and it seems that they have it all covered, and well. Jobs' answers are clear and if you want to understand just a bit better what are the stakes of the arts in the technology business, spare your next hour and a half watching this. It's amazing.
Steve jobs defines the ipad as something almost magical. I understand what he means. It is a product that will dictate the new generation of home entertainment. Say what you want, but the truth is that almost everyone in this side of the world spends hours and hours on their desk or laptop computers. The ipad doesn't work as a computer. It has a different software. You have the apps. Data shows that ipad users use considerably less the search option (google...) than with comparison to when using a computer. The tablets (such as the ipad) will take over the personnal computer, in the next years and that is the magic. Something that was just about to be considered as a home necessity is going to be over-throned by a new development. The home computer gone? You must be joking! No. At least Steve is not...
