- Further development of logo

This is the stage i am on my project. Research is definitely over.
The bolder version of the logotype is Frutiger typeface. A corporate alternative to the faceless Helvetica. The other, is Museo Sans. I like it. It might have to much style which could end up being a problem at later stages. But, i like it. To me it says Borough and Bankside. The area.

Concerning the mark, there are two routes i could follow. One is where the colors don't overlapse, more squared, more urbanist. The other is where more about diversity, arts..
And i am not to sure which route to go...

- Negative space

I found this logo when doing research on some creative agencies. I like it. and the reason i show it here it's because my last post was exactly about the negative space existent in the mark of Carrefour's logo (see bellow). The "w" was broken down to its vectorial points. Then the right bracket from the W was colored in white and positioned on top of the "h". The effect is memorable and is in my opinion a very clever solution to the problem of the space between "w" and "h". The same happens with the "r", which in normal situation would stay to far from the w as well. I like the way it merges so well with the width of the w bracket.

- Carrefour

I had never noticed and it was really a pleasure to sudenly realise that Carrefour's logo is not simpy composed of an abstract mark. In fact, if you look at the negative space between thw two arrows there is a C. It becomes so obvious once you noticed it... However, i (humbly) notice what in my opinion is a graphic mistake - if you look at the C in the word Carrefour, it is not the same as in the mark. I cannot understand why did they not change the shape of the C... It wouldn't make any difference even if they then wanted to use a slab serif typeface as they did... This gave me an idea.. lets try it then...

- SQUARE

This project was done by the why not associates design agency. And... this is also the agency with whom i'll be working on an identity project as part of our first task for the first term at the LCC.
I chose this example, SQUARE, because i find it fantastic. The logotype in it's simplicity carries all the elements that will make part of the identity of this business meeting center in Belgium. The "Q" is transformed into a "square", but at the same time it's a speech bubble, how genius. And, contrary to what one could expect from a squared brand mark, it doesn't feel inflexible at all. See the brochures for example..
Can't wait for the term to start again!
